Jeff first began taking classes in modern 3-weapons fencing in 1995. In 1996, he started fighting in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and added classes in theatrical fencing to his study.
In 2001, his search for history and technique of western martial arts brought him to the Tattershall School of Defense – Southern California run by Gary Chelak. Since that time, Jeff has continued his study within the SCA, TSD and independently focusing on Italian and German rapier and longsword while also studying the historical development of sword play. Jeff continues to broaden his horizons, researching and incorporating different styles and has developed and taught numerous courses within TSD, the SCA, and beyond.
Known as Lot Ramirez in the SCA, Jeff was admitted to the Order of the White Scarf in 2005 and made a Master of the Laurel for Historical Combat Research and a Master of Defense for Rapier Combat in 2015.
